Abstract
Purpose :The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between menorrhalgia and sleeping

Methods :The questionnaire was conducted on 173 women in menstruation including employees and patients of this hospital, night market workers and church women by visiting some parts of Seoul, night markets and churches during the period of Nov. 11 through Nov. 20, 2004. Statistical results were obtained by using SPSS11.0, comparison between the two independent groups was conducted by using Independent T-test, Chi-Square Tests(Pearson Chi-Square), and, with regard to the relation between the strength of menstrual pains and other factors, ONE WAY ANOVA was used and significance level P value was determined as 0.05.

Results :1. I drew a conclusion that, judging from the average sleeping hours, the persons who went on bed after 24:00 had more menstrual pains than those who went on bed before 24:00. 2. It was found out that, judging from the average sleeping hours, the persons who took a longer sleep had less menstrual pains than those who took a shorter sleep. 3. It was found out that there was no special corelation between the strength of menstrual pains and the quality of a sleep, e.g. having a dream or frequently waking from sleep. 4. It was found out that the strength of menstrual pains had close relation to the family history 5. It was revealed that whether there is menstrual pains had corelation with sleeping before 24:00 but not with the total sleeping hours, and the strength of menstrual pains had close corelation with the family history but not with other factors.

Conclusion : From above results, it appears that sleeping hours have close relation to menstrual pains, and especially menstrual pains have strong corelation with sleeping before or after 24:00. In the future, consistent study on the relation between woman¡¯s other genital organs and sleeping is required to be made.
